Kiwanis One Day 2018

We participated in the yearly Kiwanis One Day this year by going back to Willing Hearts, to help out in the preparation of meals to be distributed to beneficiaries including the elderly, the disabled, low income families, children from single parent families or otherwise poverty stricken families, and migrant workers in Singapore.

Through the simple acts of chopping the vegetables, marinating the meats and even simple cleaning and washing, we are reminded that there are people out there who would appreciate even just a simple meal given to them, and that we can help make that possible.

At the end of the day, we were exhausted, but happy to have made someone’s day better with a nice hot meal!

Star Program Performance for Community Chest at Istana!

On 9th October 2018, our Star Program participants together with Adelyn, were proudly invited and performed for the Community Chest Awards 2018. It was a stage of the biggest profile to date, with President Halimah Yacob as the guest-of-honor!

After the performance, the children had the chance to mingle the President herself, and it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience for many of them! We are so proud of our Star Program participants and may they continue to shine!

Installation of Office Bearers for Kiwanis Singapore – Delta Chapter 2018/19

It is that time of the year again where a new set of office bearers are installed, and who will lead the club for the next year to even greater heights!

Held at the Treetops Lounge of the British Club, we had performances from our very own group of children from the Star Program alongside Adelyn.

We look forward to the leadership of our new office bearers and are confident we can go from strength to strength in our mission!

Christmas Baking with Sunbeam Place

On 3rd of December 2017, we celebrated an early Christmas with children from Sunbeam Place, learning how to bake a simple, yet delicious log cake for Christmas!

Sunbeam Place is a home that houses vulnerable children in need of protection or whose parents are unable to provide proper care.

When the children arrived, we were overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and excitement to get started, and soon, everyone was having fun gettingg down to the baking!

Although it was only a short 2 hours with the children, but we were glad to be able to put a smile on all of them for the festive period to come.

CHIJ Key Club Project – Save the Pen!

During the post-exam period, the CHIJ Key Club organised a campaign, Save That Pen! Where students donated their used/unused pens for the Key Club members to fix up by replacing some parts or refilling the pens to make them useable again. The useable pens were then sent to Vietnam for the Mission trip to use while the unuseable pens were disassembled and recycled.

As students themselves, this was a meaningful project as their actions meant they helped facilitate the learning of the children in Vietnam. Furthermore, involving the student body of CHIJ was an enriching experience for the members
of the Key Club.
